Yonder Comes The Rain
The blossoms blooming wild now are a stunning sight to see,
Rooted in the earth’s firm soil, growing strong and free,
But we choose to pick them all it seems and we put them in a vase.
We shower them with love and kindness in a warm and sheltered place.
And when they wilt and they wither we always wonder why.
We seem so surprised to see the wild flowers die.
And I feel like I’m riding on a one-way down-bound train.
All I see is the lightnin’ flashin’. Yonder Comes The Rain.
All I hear is the thunder crashin’’. Yonder Comes The Rain.
I thought I recognized you. I was sure you really cared.
I wondered if I’d finally found an answer to a prayer.
But I treated you so thoughtlessly. What a price I had to pay.
I never will forgive myself for turning you away.
An’ as I walk on toward the twilight I see the sun begin to set.
I always will remember you. You’re one dream I can’t forget.
‘Cause my soul was parched and dry too long. You helped me grow again.
From the bottom of my heart I thank you. Yonder Comes The Rain.
Yes, I will forever thank you, darlin’, Yonder Comes The Rain.
You shattered all my mirrors and you helped me to see.
You showed me the other side of the soul inside of me.
An’ I saw all the loneliness. I heard the pounding of the bell
And I recall the tattered dress on the angel as she fell.
An’ all my dreams seemed broken and fragile like the lace
Clinging to your crimson gown, girl, and shadowing your face.
So when you’ve lost it all yeh, an’ you have everything to gain,
Come hold me close. Keep me warm. Give me a little shelter from the rain.
Yeh, hold me close. Keep me warm. Give me a little shelter from the rain.
I thought I was invincible. I could stand up straight and strong
And face the bitter winds of fate yeh an’ I knew right from wrong.
But at times it all deserts me and I feel so alone.
An’ its then I need a hand to hold. I need someone to help me home.
Then I turn to you, yeh, and I ask you to keep me warm
If only for a little while, give me shelter from the storm.
And I drop down to my knees and I pray but it seems that it’s all in vain.
I turn and I watch you walk away an’ Yonder Comes The Rain.
I turn and I watch you walk away an’ Yonder Comes The Rain.
Yeh, the blossoms blooming wild now are a stunning sight to see,
Rooted in the earth’s firm soil, growing strong and free,
But we choose to pick them all it seems and we put them in a vase.
We smother them with love and kindness in a warm and sheltered place.
And when they wilt and they wither we always wonder why.
We seem so surprised to see the wild flowers die.
So please, please believe me now. I didn’t mean to cause no pain.
All I see now is the lightnin’ flashin’. Yonder Comes The Rain.
All I hear now is the thunder crashin’’. Yonder Comes The Rain.
